Workers block Mohammadpur road

Readymade garment factory workers have blocked a road in Dhaka’s Mohammadpur in protest against the repeated delay in salary payments.

Locals said workers of Ajim Garments held demonstrations near the Mohammadpur Bus Stand around 1:30pm on Thursday, disrupting regular traffic on the Sher-e-Bangla Road.

Hours later, police persuaded the agitating workers to clear the road, leading to the resumption of traffic movement.

Mohammadpur Police OC Azizul Haq said, “The situation was brought under control after negotiations with the factory owners and workers.”
