'Bangladesh President's visit to boost relations'

India has said the forthcoming visit of Bangladesh President Md Abdul Hamid will further strengthen the relation between the two countries.

“The visit of the Bangladesh President will further boost our bilateral relations,” India’s External Affairs Ministry here said in a statement on Wednesday.

Hamid will pay an official visit to India from Dec 18-23 on the invitation of Indian President Pranab Mukherjee.

While in India, Hamid will meet Mukherjee, Vice-President Hamid Ansari, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and other senior leaders.

He is scheduled to visit places of historical and cultural importance both in and outside Delhi.

Meanwhile, the Bangladesh High Commission in Delhi has said that Hamid will also meet the leader of the opposition in Rajya Sabha as well.

“He (President) will visit Ajmer, Agra, Jaipur during his stay. He will visit Kolkata before returning to Dhaka on Dec 23,” a press statement issued by the High Commission said.
