DU, JnU students jailed for forgery

Two students of Dhaka and Jagannath universities have been jailed and fined for appearing in a bank recruitment examination at Rajshahi University as “proxies” for two candidates.

The mobile court of Executive Magistrate Joysree Rani Roy awarded both of them one-year imprisonment and fined Tk 1,000 on Friday.
They are Dhaka University’s Islamic history department’s fourth year student Monirul Islam and Jagannath University’s physics department post-graduate student Akhtaruzzaman.
Rajshahi University Proctor Prof Tariqul Hassan toldbdnews24.com they were held while appearing in the Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank recruitment examination held at Rajshahi University on behalf of two others.
They were later produced before the magistrate.
Motihar Police Station OC Alamgir Hossain told bdnews24.com the culprits have been sent to jail.
Meanwhile, the authorities handed over to police another five for using mobile phones in the recruitment exams.
They are Sujon Chandra Sarker and Enamul Haq from Kurigram, Gaziul Haq from Bogra, and Lutfar Rahman and Alam Miah from Naogaon.
Police said actions would be taken against them after investigation.
