Ghulam Azam’s condition deteriorates

Top war criminal Jamaat-e-Islami linchpin Ghulam Azam’s physical condition has reportedly deteriorated but doctors say it is not serious.

He has been kept at the BSMMU prison cell since he was sentenced to 90 years in jail for his Liberation War-time role on July 15 last year.
Azam, the ideological guru of Jamaat, led the organisation during the Liberation War.
Charges of crimes against humanity slapped on Jamaat as an organisation are also being investigated.
The former Jamaat chief’s declining health was reported a day after the Supreme Court fixed dates for hearing appeal in his war crimes case.
BSMMU Director Abdul Majid Bhuiyan said Azam's blood pressure had dropped but later stabilised with medication.
His health is not in a critical state but has deteriorated, he added.
Azam appeared to have regained strength on Wednesday evening but he is still under observation in the ICU unit.
He also suffers from problems with his kidneys.
War criminal Abdul Alim, sentenced to life in prison, died while serving his sentence.
