Bangabandhu Foundation's chief Moshiur Malek had filed the complaint at the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court on Sunday.

Judge Asaduzzaman Nur scrapped the plea after recording the plaintiff's testimony.

Tarique, eldest son of BNP chief Khaleda Zia, had allegedly dubbed Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman a 'friend of Pakistan' on Sept 29 at a programme in London.

According to the complaint, he also claimed Bangabandhu had proclaimed 'Joy Pakistan' in his historic Mar 7, 1971 speech after saying 'Joy Bangla'.

Tarique, accused in a dozen corruption cases, was arrested during the caretaker regime in 2007. He went to the UK the next year after getting bail for treatment, and has been there since.

He has stirred controversy in recent times by claiming his father Ziaur Rahman was Bangladesh's first president and that Bangabandhu was "an illegal prime minister".
