PM on way to UK

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has left New York for London en route to Bangladesh after attending the 69th Session of the United Nations General Assembly.

Bangladesh’s Permanent Representative at the United Nations, AK Momen, and Ambassador to the United States Mohammad Ziauddin saw her off at the John F Kennedy airport at around 7am local time on Monday on a US Air flight.

The prime minister is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka on Thursday after spending two days in London.

She went to New York aboard an Emirates’ flight on Sept 21 to attend the UN General Assembly session.

Hasina addressed the session on Sept 27.
She termed peace a precondition for a balanced global development and urged world leaders to ensure such an environment.
The prime minister met her Indian counterpart Narendra Modi on the sideline of the session the same day.
She urged him to sign the Teesta water sharing agreement and implement the Land Boundary Agreement.
Hasina also had bilateral meetings with Belarus Prime Minister Mikhail Myasnikovich and Nepal Prime Minister Sushil Koirala.
The prime minister was accompanied by nine ministers and advisors and 75 businessmen during the US visit. Eminent citizens, journalists and high government officials were also in her entourage.
