BCS preliminary test format changed

The Public Service Commission (PSC) has changed the format of the Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) examinations.

From now on, the BCS preliminary tests will be two-hour-long, 200-mark MCQ exams.

Pass marks for the viva-voce have been raised by 10 percent to 50 percent but the marks needed to clear the written tests have remained unchanged at 50 percent.

The Commission published a gazette to this end on Sunday.

PSC Exams Controller AEM Nesaruddin said a circular for the 35th BCS preliminary tests would be published ‘within a day or two’.

Earlier, the BCS preliminary tests used to be one-hour-long, 100-mark MCQ exams.
In the new system, a score below 30 percent in a written test will be considered a zero score.
Price of the BCS application form has been increased by Tk 200 to Tk 700.
On Feb 9, State Minister for Public Administration Ismat Ara Sadique told Parliament that the 35th BCS would appoint 1,749 people under various cadres.
