Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Assistant Director Mirza Golam Sarowar said different areas of the city were raided in an effort to foil any possible violence on Thursday.
Twenty-two handmade bombs and 1 kg gun powder were found at the Budhparhaof RU campus area while a revolver and six rounds of ammunitions were seized from Charaghat area.
"The bombs were meant for creating mayhem during the shutdown," said the RAB official.
Meanwhile, police dispersed Jamaat supporters on the Rajshahi bypass road when they tried to block it by burning tyres after a procession on Thursday.
