Nahid says he deliberately took the side of ‘thieves’
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid has identified people running private universities as "thieves and cheats".

"I've sided with the thieves knowingly," he said hinting at a TIB report on Wednesday at a programme at Rajshahi University.
A recent Transparency International Bangladesh report has blamed the minister of siding with the private universities.
"There was no other way," Nahid said. "I did it to identify and drive out the big thieves and correct the small ones."
At the programme to award outstanding Rajshahi University students and honour the talented, the minister said the teachers must work together to take the country forward.
"Only knowledge won't do," he said. "Everyone has to have ethics as well."
