The minister for health and family welfare dubbed the progress in the sector over the past five years "stunning" when calling on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday.

Hasina's Press Secretary AKM Shameem Chowdhury briefed reporters after the meeting.

"Successes in rural health could be utilised for development of the Indian health sector," he quoted Vardhan as telling the prime minister.

Hasina stressed cooperation between the neighbouring countries on Ayurvedic and Homeopathic medical treatment.

In one of its major decisions, the Indian Cabinet on Sept 4 approved the signing of an MoU for co-operation with Bangladesh in the field of traditional systems of medicine and homoeopathy.

The signing will enhance bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
