"Applications are pending (from institutions) to get enlisted for MPO. Work out a guideline for this," she said during her speech on Sunday at the education ministry.

Emphasizing the need for a modern education system, Hasina told ministry officials:"The world is ever changing. The education system has to keep pace with the change to benefit our children."

She pitched for setting up at least one university, public or private, in every district.

Hasina instructed the ministry to focus on modernising the Madrasa education system.

"The curriculum of Madrasa education needs to be finalised."

The Madrasa education system has been radically modernised in neighbouring West Bengal during the Left Front regime, so in many districts of the Indian state, thousands of Hindu children are studying in these Madrasas.
