Father, son among 3 killed in road crash

Three people were killed and five others injured when a microbus collided with an auto-rickshaw in Habiganj’s Nabiganj Upazila on Friday.

The accident took place in the afternoon on Dhaka-Sylhet highway near Syedpur bazaar in the Upazila, Sherpur Highway Police Station Sub-Inspector Nazrul Islam said.

The deceased have been identified as Maolana Md Rezaul Karim, 24, Qazi Sayeed, 90, and his son Imam of Nabiganj sub-registrar office mosque Maolana Hafizur Rahman, 40.

All of them were passengers of the auto-rickshaw.
Quoting locals, SI Islam said the three-wheeler was on its way to Nabiganj from Sherpur when it collided head-on with the Sylhet-bound microbus, leaving the trio dead on spot.
The five injured have been sent to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College and Hospital, Islam said.
The bodies were also sent to the hospital’s morgue, the SI added.
