5 children drown in Thakurgaon
Five children, including two brothers, drowned in ponds in two separate incidents at Thakurgaon Sadar on Thursday.

They were identified as ‘Latifur’, 8, son of Nur Islam, ‘Nupur’, 8, daughter of Md Chutu, brothers ‘Fahim’, 9, and ‘Rifat’, 7, sons of one ‘Enamul’, and ‘Hridoy’, 10, son of one ‘Solaiman’.
Apart from Solaiman, who is from Jagannathpur, the four others reside in Bhadurparha area under Thakurgaon municipality.
Sadar Police Station OC AKM Mehedi Hasan said the children drowned in two separate incidents that took place between 3:30pm and 4pm at Bahaduparha and Jagannathpur, respectively.
The mishap occurred when they were taking a bath in the ponds, he said.
Locals had recovered the bodies before police arrived at the scenes.
