BGB says India’s BSF has detained six Bangladesh nationals

India’s Border Security Force (BSF) has detained six Bangladesh nationals from the Lauer Gorh border in Sunamganj.

The detention took place around 4pm on Sunday, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) officials said.

All of them were workers who usually dig up and collect coals from rivers.

They have been identified as Kala Miah, 19, Takir Hossain, 18, Jane Alam, 19, Md Mursalin, 18, Moktar Hossain, 20, and Mejbah Uddin, 35.

BGB-8 Commander Lt Col Golam Mohiuddin told bdnews24.com that BSF detained and took the six into custody when they crossed the border mistakenly while collecting coal from Jadukata River.

He said they contacted BSF to bring back the Bangladeshis.
