Court sets Oct 13 for submitting Narayanganj murders probe report 

The court has instructed the investigation officer of the Narayanganj multiple murders to submit the probe report on Oct 13.

Narayanganj’s Senior Judicial Magistrate AKM Mahiuddin gave the order on Wednesday after hearing the cases filed over the sensational murder of seven people, including a City Corporation councillor and a senior lawyer.

Court police’s inspector Md Habibur Rahman said that 15 accused, including former RAB officials, ex-Lt Col Tarek Sayeed Mohammad, then RAB-11 commander, ex-Maj Arif Hossain and ex-Lt Commander MM Rana, were presented before the court on Wednesday.

The court has set Oct 13 for the next date of hearing.

Narayanganj District Lawyers’ Association President Sakhawat Hossain said: “The court ordered the investigating officer to submit the probe report on Oct 13.”

Narayanganj City Corporation Councillor Nazrul Islam, senior lawyer Chandan Kumar Sarkar and five others went missing on Apr 27. Their bodies were recovered from the Shitalakhya River several days later.

Relatives of Islam and Sarkar filed two separate cases over the incident.

The three ex-RAB officials have already issued confessional statements with the court.

Six more RAB-11 personnel have given confessional statements as eyewitnesses of the abduction and killings.
