Man shot beside police station

Miscreants have shot an engineer near the Adabor Police Station to snatch away Tk 250,000 from him.

Within a few hours of this incident, a businessman carrying Tk 50,000 was shot by muggers in Kamalapur.

Transactions are usually high before the Eid-ul-Fitr festival.

Monjurul Alam Mridul, shot in Adabor, is employed with mobile-phone operator Robi. He was admitted to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH).

Mridul was depositing money to the Eastern Bank Limited after withdrawing it from Dutch Bangla Bank Limited’s branch in Mohammadpur’s Ring Road, he told bdnews24.com at the DMCH.

bdnews24.com correspondent Salauhddin Wahed Pritom, who witnessed the act, said he saw three men mounted on a motorcycle shoot Mridul before snatching the bag in his hand just a few yards away from the police station.

“I’ll be going abroad in a few days. My passport, visa documents were all in the bag.

Adabor Police Station OC Gazi Ruhul Imam told bdnews24.com he was in his office during the time when Mridul was mugged but did not hear gunshots.

He, however, promised swift actions.

Md Mostafa, 55, was shot in both his legs at Kamalapur at 3pm.

The plastic trader was headed to Kamalapur Railway Station from his Lalbagh home when six people on two motorcycles shot him and took away his bag with Tk 50,000.

He has been admitted to DMCH.
