DC conference from Tuesday

A three-day District Commissioner’s (DC) conference is scheduled to begin on Tuesday.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the conference at the Shapla Hall in her office at 9:30 am on Tuesday.

But the 20 sessions in which 307 proposals will be discussed, are going to be held in the Secretariat’s conference room, Cabinet secretary Musharraf Hossain Bhuiyan told reporters at the secretariat on Sunday.

Divisional commissioners and DCs have listed topics to be discussed and are expected to share ideas,” Musharraf said.
The Cabinet secretary also said, “The task of coordinating and implementing various government policies rests on the DCs.”
“The conference gives an occasion to the PM, ministers, secretaries and DCs to interact on key issues. Ministers and secretaries can take instant decisions after discussing them,” the Cabinet secretary said.
He said the conference would be helpful for DCs, who play a crucial role at the grass-root level.
Land management, improvement in the law and order situation, strengthening of local government, disaster management, relief and rehabilitation, poverty eradication, social safety net, regulating the price hike, health care, family planning, improving quality of education, increasing the literacy rate, ICT applications, e-governance, environment protection and the execution of various development projects would be discussed.
Additional secretary of cabinet division Nazrul Islam said, “About 307 topics will be discussed. Thirty-nine ministries and departments will take part. Ninety-two percent of the decisions taken at the previous DC conference have been implemented.”
