Sengupta, the head of the parliamentary committee for the law ministry, was speaking at a seminar at Kakrail on Friday.

“Soon arrangements will be made for the prime ministers to visit to each other in their countries, he said. “I think these visits will dispel the doubts and concerns we have had.”

India’s newly elected Prime Minister and BJP strongman Narendra Modi has sent an official invitation to Sheikh Hasina for a visit to Delhi. External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, who arrived in Dhaka on a three-day visit on Wednesday, handed it over to the Bangladesh prime minister on Thursday.

Swaraj left Dhaka on Friday after her first stand-alone visit to any country after taking office last month.

Swaraj has sounded positive on Teesta water-sharing and the land boundary agreement, Sengupta said.

“Her announcement of giving Bangladesh 60 crore rupees as grant and 100MW of electricity from Paltana Power Station in Tripura will further enhance our ties.

Governments will come and go but good relations will remain between the people of Bangladesh and India, he hoped.
