“We have noticed some Facebook accounts that use Tarique Rahman’s name,” said BNP’s acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir to reporters at the party’s Naya Paltan office on Sunday.

“They have been posting statements and saying they are his.”

“We want to make it clear that Tarique Rahman does not have a Facebook account. He also does not write blogs.”

He said Tarique, the eldest son of BNP chief Khaleda Zia, will not be responsible for the views expressed in these ‘fake’ accounts.

The party is investigating to find out those behind the accounts that claim to be by Tarique.
“We will take necessary legal action in the future,” said Fakhrul and urged people to refrain from opening profiles in his name.
Tarique, accused in several cases at home, has been staying in the UK since 2008.
