Dhanmondi Club ‘trespassers’ get bail
A Dhaka court has granted bail to four people including architect Mubasshar Hussain and sprinter Quamrun Nahar Dana in a case of trespass into Dhanmondi Club in an attempt to occupy its playground.

Metropolitan Magistrate MA Salam issued the order on Tuesday after they surrendered before the court and requested bail.
The club’s secretary M Arifur Rahman filed the case on Apr 18 against them for entering the ground to hold a protest.
Other accused in the case are Begum Salma Shafi and Iqbal Habib.
Environmentalists are at loggerheads with officials of Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club for several days over the possession of the playground.
The environmentalists claim the club was trying to take control of the playground, known as Dhanmondi No. 8 ground, and say it should be made available for locals.
On the other hand, the club officials said this field was meant for the elites and others have no business to be there.
