At an event at the Rajarbagh Central Police Hospital on Monday, he said that the government did not support the strike.

His comments come at a time when doctors at the capital's Mitford Hospital and Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital (RMCH) are on strike.

Private television channel Ekushey TV filed a case on Monday against four intern doctors of Sir Salimullah Medical College and the director of Mitford Hospital following an attack on journalists at the hospital on Saturday.

Doctors of the hospital in old Dhaka went on strike as soon as the news of the lawsuit came in.

Meanwhile, at least 10 journalists were injured when doctors of RMCH attacked them with iron rods and sticks late on Sunday.

"A probe committee has been formed over the incident and action will be taken against erring persons," the health minister said on Monday describing the attack on newsmen as 'unfortunate'.

In the wake of an incident involving a patient's relative, who was a police official, and a doctor at Dhaka's BIRDEM General Hospital on Apr 13, a strike was called by the doctors on Apr 15.

The health minister had then warned the police of stopping health services at the police hospital until action was taken against the erring official.

Asked whether doctors had been behaving recklessly after his statement, Nasim said: "I have not said anything like that."
