PM moots setting up of another museum

To give due importance to Bangladesh’s glorious history, the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has proposed to set up another museum.

She proposed this when a four-member delegation of Bangladesh National Museum, led by Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor, called on her at her office on Tuesday, Prime Minister’s Special Assistant Mahbubul Hoque Shakil told reporters.

There is a gallery on the great Liberation War in the National Museum. Besides, the privately run Liberation War Museum is preserving the history of Bangladesh’s Independence.

At the meeting, Director General of Bangladesh National Museum Qamrun Nahar Khanom handed over the annual report of the National Museum for 2012-13 fiscal year and other publications to the Prime Minister.
Shakil said the prime minister directed the Ministry of Cultural Affairs to take quick steps to set up a modern museum in the country to uphold the nation’s history.
Secretary to the Prime Minister’s Office Abul Kalam Azad, Cultural Affairs Secretary Ranjit Kumar Biswas, Chairman of Board of Trustees of National Museum Azizur Rahman and Prime Minister’s Special Assistant Mahbubul Hoque Shakil were present at the meeting.
Earlier, Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of Bangladesh Masud Ahmed submitted 17 audit reports to the Prime Minister at her office.
Shakil who was also present on the occasion said that the CAG handed over one performance-based audit report, two issue-based audit reports, six special audit reports, six annual audit reports and two adjustment reports to the Prime Minister.
