It was said that the group was ‘Sheersha Bahini’ of notorious Rezaul. Eleven firearms, bullets, four long daggers and three mobile phones were seized from Rezaul’s hideout.

No one could be nabbed after the four-hour long gun battle that began at 3:00am early on Friday in Chaprakhali Khal area of Dublar Char in Sharankhola Range.

Mongla Coast Guard south zone Lieutenant Commander Mufti Mahmud Khan said a Coast Guard group raided the area after getting a tip off.
“They sensed our presence and opened fire, compelling Coast Guard to retaliate.”
After four hours of intermittent gun battle, the bandits retreated allowing Coast Guard to search the hideout.
“We found four fishermen,” he said. He, however, could not provide the identities of the hostages.
