Officers from Attorney General’s Office, Bangladesh Coast Guard, Criminal Investigation Department, Special Branch, Detective Branch and officers from the Dhaka and Chittagong Metropolitan Police participated in the 10-day training.

The US Department of State’s Bureau of Diplomatic Security offered the training taught by US instructors, said a media release.

US Embassy in Dhaka’s Regional Security Officer Bernard Nixon said the courses were ‘one of many avenues’ that both the countries can use to fight terrorism together and protect mutual interests.

“Overall, participants will be able to investigate, identify and prosecute suspects responsible for terrorist incidents and activities more efficiently,” Nixon was quoted as saying.

It said the US Embassy, in partnership with the Bangladesh government, plans to offer such training programmes throughout the year.
