‘Police not for political use’
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday said her government had no intentions to use the police as a ‘political weapon’.

" It is the duty ofpolice to serve the people," she said , while inaugurating the Police Week 2013 at the capital's Rajarbag Police Lines in the morning.
The PM said police were bound to bring perpetrators to justice - no matter who it is.
The Opposition BNP has been blaming Hasina and her party for using the police politically to suppress opposition movements.
The Prime Minister refutes those charges and said her government was keen to ensure the police served the people.
The President's Medal and Bangladesh Police Medal were given out to 67 policemen, both from the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and Bangladesh police, for ‘courage and achievement’.
