Authorities have closed all tourist attractions in Sajek Valley as forecasts warn of heavy to very heavy rainfall and possible disasters.

The restriction will remain in force until further notice to ensure public safety.

On Monday, the Rangamati district administration announced the closure, citing forecasts from the Bangladesh Meteorological Department and the Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre that indicate heavy to very heavy rain over the coming days.

The forecast raises the risk of landslides, hill collapses and disruption to transport across parts of the district.

From Monday evening, all tourist attractions in Sajek Valley under Baghaichari Upazila have been closed until further notice.

The restriction covers all resorts, cottages, hill trails, high-risk areas and remote locations in Sajek Valley.

Tourists and the public have been barred from entering these places during the closure.

People have also been urged to exercise maximum caution while travelling and follow instructions from the authorities.

Deputy Commissioner Nazma Ashrafi said the measure had been taken to protect the public following the weather forecast.

The administration in Bandarban has also closed all tourist destinations until Jul 10 for the same reason.
