Tottenham captain Son Heung-min is leaving the club after a decade and is set to join Los Angeles FC in Major League Soccer.
The South Korean forward is expected to receive around £20 million ($26.6 million) after announcing his departure from the North London outfit over the weekend, BBC Sport reports.
The 33-year-old is also on the verge of becoming the most expensive signing of MLS as the fee is likely to be larger than the £22.5 million ($29.9 million) paid by Atlanta United for Middlesbrough’s Emmanuel Latte Lath in February.
The final steps of the transfer are still being worked out, but Son’s move to LAFC is now seen as a formality, pending paperwork and a medical.
Son, who remains under contract with Spurs until 2026, is believed to have played his last game for the club during Sunday’s 1-1 pre-season draw with Newcastle in Seoul.
Since joining from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015, Son has netted 173 goals in 454 appearances for Spurs.
He captained the side to their first trophy in 17 years, leading them to victory over Manchester United in the Europa League final in May.
