Carrom championship begins in city

Dhaka, Sept 12 (bdnews24.com) - The Fourth National Carrom Championship, organised by Bangladesh Carrom Federation (BCF), begins at the National Sports Council (NSC) gymnasium Thursday.
Secretary of Youth and Sports Ministry M Sirajul Islam will inaugurate the three-day meet.
A total of 19 clubs have enrolled their names for the competition till Tuesday and interested clubs can enroll their names before the tournament starts Thursday.
BCF joint secretary Abdul Kader Biswas revealed this at a press conference at the NSC conference room Tuesday.
BCF president Sheikh Abdus Salam, general secretary Mohammad Abul Hashem and vice-president Mohammad Hafizur Rahman were also present.
The tournament will see four events on knockout basis -- men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles and women's doubles.
