Bogra, Mar 8 (bdnews24.com) – Abdul Momen Talukder Khoka, a BNP MP from Bogra-3, has been sued on charges of killing two freedom fighters during the Liberation War.
Mohammad Subed Ali, a freedom fighter, filed the case against Momen, also chairman of the parliamentary standing committee on the forest and environment ministry, with the Senior Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court - 2 of Bogra on Tuesday.
Judge Sabina Yasmin later directed the officer-in-charge of Adamdighi Police Station to record the case.
In his case statement, the plaintiff alleged that Momen with the help of Pakistani occupation forces picked up freedom fighters Mansurul Haque Talukder and Abdus Sattar while they were going to Kamarpur village to meet their family members, and took them to a Pakistani camp.
Hearing the news, Mansur's father Tabibur Rahman Talukder rushed to the camp and saw that peace committee chairman Abdul Majid Talukder and his son Momen were torturing the two.
As Tabibur requested Majid to release his son, he threatened to kill him as well.
Two days later, on Nov 24, 1971, Khoka shot dead a few freedom fighters, including Mansur, Abdus Sattar, Abdul Jalil and Altaf Hossain under Kharir Bridge in Adamdighi Bazar area.
The counsel of the plaintiff, Abdul Bari, told reporters that Abdul Momen's father late Abdul Majid Talukder was the district unit chairman of Shanti (peace) committee during the war.
The two had directly assisted the Pakistan army during the war, according to the case details.
