NCP leader Abdul Hannan Masud owns five times more wealth than his father, an analysis of affidavits filed by the father-son duo has revealed.
Hannan, 26, is the senior joint chief coordinator of the National Citizen Party (NCP).
Both him and his father, Amirul Islam Mohammad Abdul Malek, have filed the affidavits along with their nomination papers for the Noakhali-6 (Hatia) constituency.
Hannan’s annual income is also three times greater than Amirul’s, who is contesting in the polls from a separate party.
The affidavits said Amirul’s primary source of income is agriculture, while Hannan is involved in business.
In his affidavit, Hannan Masud says he earns Tk 600,000 a year from business.
He lists Tk 2,055 in bank accounts, Tk 100,000 in company shares, Tk 800,000 worth of gold, and Tk 100,000 each in electronics and furniture.
His wife Shyamoli Sultana Jadni, described as a student, has no assets, the affidavit says. The couple also reports no liabilities.
Masud’s income tax return for the 2025-26 fiscal year also shows an annual income of Tk 600,000, while declaring assets worth more than Tk 9.8 million.
There is no income tax record in his wife’s name.
Masud says he studied up to Alim level. He describes himself as a businessman and names his company as Digilanty Global, based in Paribagh, Dhaka.
He has never been accused in any criminal case, the affidavit states.
FATHER RUNS ON BSP
Masud’s father Amirul has filed his nomination as a candidate of the Bangladesh Supreme Party (BSP).
In his own affidavit, Amirul reports a total income of Tk 2.09 million in the 2025-26 fiscal year — around five times lower than his son’s, according to the document.
He also declares an annual income of Tk 200,000 from agriculture, which is six times less than Masud’s business income.
The 63-year old describes Hannan in his affidavit as a student and politician.
