The Nizam-e-Islam Party has received registration from the Election Commission (EC) as a new political party.
The party has been allocated the electoral symbol “book”.
On Sunday, the EC updated its official website to include the Nizam-e-Islam Party in its list of registered political entities, with its registration No. 63.
The party’s Secretary General Maulana Musa Bin Izhar said the registration was granted following a court order.
He noted that although the registration was finalised with only weeks left before the parliamentary polls, the party has not yet submitted a formal request to extend the deadline for the submission of nomination papers.
The national election is scheduled for Feb 12. The deadline for submitting nomination papers is Monday.
With this latest addition, a total of six political parties have received registration under the AMM Nasir Uddin-led commission in the lead-up to the first general election following the fall of the Awami League government in the student-led mass movement last year.
