The four were detained from the Islampur area of Shyamnagar on Sunday afternoon.

Police conducted a raid on the home and arrested Gazi Nazrul, upazila Jamaat Amir Md Abdul Bir and two others.

The others at the meeting fled when they noted the police presence.

The OC said Gazi Nazrul had been accused in several sabotage cases.

About 20 Jamaat leaders are among the paddy sheaf candidates for the Dec 30 national parliamentary election.

These candidates are adopting the paddy sheaf of their BNP allies as the party has lost its registration.

Gazi Nazrul was elected to the Satkhira-4 seat running as a member of the BNP alliance under the Jamaat’s scales symbol. He lost to Grand Alliance and Jatiya Party candidate Golam Reza in the 2008 polls.
