The decision was announced at a press conference at the party’s offices in Motijheel on Monday after an extended mission.

“Today is the greatest of my life,” Siddique said. “Today I am glad to announce that we are joining the Jatiya Oikya Front led by Dr Kamal Hossain.”

“We are joining the group under his leadership to restore the rights of the people and to ensure their freedom.”

Oikya Front Sharik JSD ASM Abdur Rab, Gono Forum’s Mostofa Mohsin Montu, BNP’s Barkat Ullah Bulu and Kader Siddique’s wife Nasreen Siddique were also at the event.

The Oikya Front was formed on Oct 13 by the BNP, JSD, Gono Forum, Nagorik Oikya and the Jatiya Oikya. The Krishak Sramik League had been in talks with the group at the time.

On Nov 3, Kader Siddique requested time from Kamal Hossain to mull over the party’s entry into the Oikya Front at a Jail Killing Day discussion.

“We are supporting Dr Kamal Hossain with all our might,” he said on Monday. “We will work as hard as possible for the people of our country.”

“Winning the fight is no difficult task for me. The law will help Kamal Hossain. We will fight and win the war. Tikka Khan tasted defeat in my hands. Yahya Khan lost out to me. If Niazi can kneel down before me, so can today’s autocrats.”

Representatives from the Gono Forum, the BNP and the Jatiya Oikya Prokriya also attended the press conference.
