BNP leaders join rally of Dr Kamal’s ‘Jatiya Oikya Prokriya’

The rally of the ‘Jatiya Oikya Prokriya’, convened by Gono Forum chief Dr Kamal Hossain and attended by leaders from the BNP and 20-party alliance has begun in the city.

The rally kicked off at the Mahanagar Natyamancha in Dhaka’s Gulistan at 3.00 pm on Saturday with patriotic songs sung by Udichi singers.

The chief guest of the rally is Jukto Front Chairman AQM Badrudozza.

“The people of the country are deprived of their right to vote. We have gathered here to retrieve it. It was the people who united and achieved the victory in the Liberation War in 1971,” said the convener of Jatiya Oikya Prokriya, Dr Kamal Hossain.

“The goal of today’s national unity is to establish active democracy in the country; we can ensure the people’s freedom of speech through ensuring the financial discipline in the country. I hope the national leaders present here will encourage the people to create a mass uprising.”

Former adviser to the caretaker government Barrister Mainul Hosein; BNP Secretary-General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, standing committee member Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Moudud Ahmed, Abdul Moin Khan; BJP Chairman Andaleeve Rahman Partho; Jamiate Ulamaye Islam Secretary General Molana Noor Hossain Kashemi; former VP of the DUCSU Sultan Md Mansur and Zafrullah Chowdhury have joined convener Dr Kamal and member secretary of Nagarik Oikya Mostafa Amin on stage.

“Establish national unity to ensure the voting rights of the people and establish active democracy, rule of law,” “One goal to establish national unity for the sake of the country,” “Revive the spirit of 71 through national unity,” read the banners at Kazi Bashiruddin auditorium, which is filled with continuous applause.
