Ramzan Ali, 35, and Season Ali, 25, members of the ruling Awami League’s youth front, came under attack at Mohalanka in Barho Daroga Haat while they were returning home on a motorcycle around 8pm on Monday, police said.

Ramzan was brought dead while Season was admitted with injuries to Chattogram Medical College Hospital, Sub-Inspector Shilbrata Barua at the hospital’s police camp told bdnews24.com.

Season died later around 10pm, the SI said.

Another person on the motorcycle, Md Mobarak, was unharmed.

“A group of miscreants attacked us when we slowed down at the weighing scale at Barho Daroga Hat on the highway,” Mobarak told bdnews24.com.

A dispute in the organisation is behind the attack, according to locals.

“We suspect that people of their rival group have carried out the attack,” Chattogram Additional Superintendent of Police Moshiuddoula Reza told bdnews24.com.

Ramzan, known to be a supporter of Didarul Alam MP, is accused in several cases of attacking police and other charges, according to the police officer.

Didarul was chief guest at the Mourning Day programme of Baroiardhala union Awami League.
