Hossain went to his office, Nasiman Bhaban, in the port city after walking out of the Chittagong Central Jail around 11am Wednesday, said his personal assistant Maruful Hoque.

The High Court granted Hossain bail in three cases, with the latest over an explosion near BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s motorcade in Feni.

The other two cases were filed after BNP activists hurled brickbats on the police near Nasiman Bhaban, prior to the announcement of a verdict in a graft case against Khaleda Zia on Feb 8.

Hossain and other leaders were picked up from the scene. Later police named him and 48 others in two cases.

The president of BNP’s Chittagong unit was questioned in remand.

Hossain sought bail from a Chittagong court but the appeal was turned down. The leader then moved to the High Court.

On Mar 7, a High Court bench granted bail to Hossain and 19 other suspects in the two cases filed over the Feb 8 incident.

Late in February, police named Hossain as an arrestee in a case over explosions near Khaleda’s motorcade in Feni.

The case was started after two buses were set afire and crude bombs were hurled.

The HC order granting bail in the case reached the Chittagong Central Jail on Tuesday.
