Ex-MP Saleha Mosharraf passes away

Former MP Saleha Mosharraf died on Thursday after a long battle with cancer. She was 66.

Members of her family said she died around 1:05 am on Thursday.

She had been elected as Member of Parliament from the Faridpur-4 constituency (Sadarpur and Char Bhadrasan) in 1996. She was also elected from a reserved seat for women in 2009.

Her late husband Advocate Mosharraf Hossain was also elected an MP from that constituency for four consecutive times.

Mosharraf has left behind three sons and two daughters.

She was president of the Faridpur Sadar Upazila Awami League before her death.

Her son, Advocate Shahedid Gamal Lipu, said, "Her funeral prayer will be held at Pilot High School ground at 11am, at Upazila Sadar stadium after the weekly prayer and Faridpur Red Crescent ground after the afternoon prayer.”

She will be laid to rest at the Alipur graveyard in Faridpur city.

Parliament's Deputy Leader Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury MP( Faridpur-2), Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Engineer Khandker Mosharraf Hossain M P (Faridpur-3), Abdur Rahman MP(Faridpur-1), Mujibur Rahman Nixon MP (Faridpur-4), former president of FBCCI AK Azad, former President of Chatra League Liakat Sikder, Faridpur District Awami League, District BNP and other organizations have mourned in her death.
