Local AL leader dies in road accident

A local Awami League leader died in a road accident on Monday when a truck run him over.

Meherpur, June 7 (bdnews24.com)—A local Awami League leader died in a road accident on Monday when a truck run him over.
Shamsujjoha Biswas of Telephone Exchange Office Parha area was the Awami League president of the town's ward no 9. He used to run a bicycle business.
Witnesses said a Meherpur-bound truck coming from Kushtia lost control and ran over Biswas in the Telephone Exchange Office Parha area at around 10am.
Biswas died on the spot and the driver ran away.
The truck had run over three cows and some ducks before.
Aggrieved local people blockaded the highway at around 11:30am.
Meherpur Sadar officer in charge Zihad Ali told bdnews24.com that the police took control of the situation and had seized the truck.
The district Awami League leaders including Joynal Abedin, MP from Meherpur-1, went to the Meherpur General Hospital morgue to see Biswas.
