Sircar gets Bogra-6, Moudud bags Bogra-7

BNP candidates Moudud Ahmed and Jamiruddin Sircar have bagged Bogra-6 and -7 constituencies respectively in Thursday's by-election.

Bogra, Apr 2 (bdnews24.com)—BNP candidates Moudud Ahmed and Jamiruddin Sircar have bagged Bogra-6 and -7 constituencies respectively in Thursday's by-election.
According to unofficial results, Jamiruddin Sircar polled 1,39,531 votes in 108 poling centres of Bogra-6.
His nearest rival ruling AL candidate Mamataj Uddin bagged 53,430 votes.
In Bogra-7, Moudud had 1,75,790 votes in 148 polling centres, returning officer Syed Md Musa told bdnews24.com at around 9pm.
His nearest rival ruling Awami League's Mustafa Alam had 97,285 votes.
A total of seventeen candidates were contesting in Thursday's six by-elections to Bogra- 6 and 7, Rangpur- 3 and 6, Kurigram -2 and Kishoreganj-6 seats.
Election commissioner M Sohul Hussain estimated around 50 percent of the 1,842,000 registered voters cast their ballots in the six constituencies.
"Polling was peaceful in most areas," said Hossain.
