Dhaka, Oct 18 (bdnews24.com) – Founding member of the BNP standing committee Barrister Abul Hasnat appears active in politics after long.
Hasnat, the first mayor of Dhaka city, spoke at an Iftar party in Azimpur Social Welfare Centre Wednesday where he called upon the elderly citizens of old Dhaka to be united.
He strongly condemned the move to construct a road over the Azimpur graveyard obliterating graves. "The people who tried to do this had indeed insulted the people of old Dhaka", Hasnat said. "Nobody will be allowed to commit such acts, he added.
Local ward commissioner Mir Ali Ashraf organised the Iftar.
Hasnat said, "We have to recover the glory of Lalbag. Once leadersof the area led the country,but now criminals and godfathers are produced in the locality."
Local leaders of different political parties including Nasiruddin Ahmed Pintu, MP, were present at the Iftar.
