Ahle Hadith to contest in 60 seats in 2007 election

The Ahle Hadith Bangladesh has planned to contest in at least 60 parliamentary seats under the newly formed political banner, "Insaf Party", a party spokesman said Monday.

Dhaka, Sept 4 (BDNEWS) – The Ahle Hadith Bangladesh has planned to contest in at least 60 parliamentary seats under the newly formed political banner, "Insaf Party", a party spokesman said Monday.
Dr. Asadullah Al Galib, who was detained by the security agents following last year's a string of bombings by Islamist militants, is the spiritual leader of the group in Bangladesh. He has been languishing in Rajshahi jail.
On September 1, 2005, the group formed its new front to come into the political horizon.
General secretary of the Ahle Hadith's Youth Front Abdul Wahab told bdnews24.com that it has strong base in 42 districts, but initially it would contest next election in 31 districts.
They have chosen 28 seats in northern Bangladesh to contest, Wahab said.
"If atmosphere favours us, we can contest in more constituency," he said but gave no details.
