Parliament adjourned for 25 minutes at death of Shamsul Islam Khan

The Parliament was adjourned for 25 minutes Monday at the death of former industries minister and BNP lawmaker Shamsul Islam Khan.

Dhaka, Jan 23 (BDNEWS) – The Parliament was adjourned for 25 minutes Monday at the death of former industries minister and BNP lawmaker Shamsul Islam Khan.
Deputy Speaker Akhtar Hamid Siddiqui who was in the chair adjourned the House after adopting a condolence motion at the death.
Earlier, Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, LGRD Minister Abdul Mannan Bhuiyan, Chief Whip Khandakar Delwar Hossain, Industries Minister Matiur Rahman Nizami, Bangabir Abdul Kader Siddiqui, Maulana Abdus Sobhan and TIM Fazle Rabbi took part on the condolence motion.
Khaleda paid rich tribute to late Khan saying that he had active participation in all democratic movements of the country.
"He (Khan) was not only an industrialist, he contributed for strengthening democracy in the country," said the PM.
She said Shamsul Islam Khan was not only a BNP leader, but he was also an acceptable personality to all political parties. "He had a very good and friendly relations with all the parties."
"The country lost a patriotic and democratic politician at his death. We lost a successful politician," Begum Zia told the House.
