Comrade Moni Singh's 15th death anniversary observed

The 15th anniversary of death of CPB leader Comrade Moni Singh was observed Saturday in Dhaka and across the country, including his birthplace in Durgapur in Netrakona.

Dhaka, Dec 31 (BDNEWS) – The 15th anniversary of death of CPB leader Comrade Moni Singh was observed Saturday in Dhaka and across the country, including his birthplace in Durgapur in Netrakona.
The Communist Party of Bangladesh and its front organisations held different programmes to recall the contributions of the great leader. Moni Mela — the five-day annual fair name after Moni Singh - began Saturday at Durgapur in Netrakona.
Besides, eye specialist Dr Dibalok Singh, also the only son of the late leader, will conduct a charity eye camp from December 31 to January 5 at the fair venue.
Inaugurating the Moni Mela CPB president Manjurul Ahsan Khan urged all to wage a united movement against the communal politics and militancy, and boycott the anti-liberation forces socially.
Central and local leaders of CPB and some other left organisations also spoke at the session presided over by veteran left leader Durga Prasad Tewari.
In a discussion meeting at the party's central office in the capital, speakers called for a united movement to end the 'misrule of the coalition government.'
"Emergence of communal politics and militancy in the name of religion is a threat to the existence of the country," the observed.
"And only a new generation inspired with the ideology of Comrade Moni Singh can help the nation overcome the situation," they added.
They also demanded to name the street at Paltan area after the late legendary Marxist leader and include his biography in school textbooks.
Among others, CPB general secretary in charge Shah Alam, Shahidullah Chowdhury, Morshed Ali, Advocate MA Kuddus and Ruhin Hossain Prince focused on various sides of the colourful life of Comrade Moni Singh. CPB Dhaka City unit president Mahbub Alam presided over the meeting.
Earlier in the morning, CPB central leaders paid homage at the Moni Singh memorial monument at the Shyampur crematorium in the city.
