Ruling BNP candidate Abu Leichh Md Mubin Chowdhury has been declared as elected in the by-election to Habiganj-3 constituency (Habiganj-Lakhai), which fell vacant on January 27 after the assassination of Awami League lawmaker and former finance minister Shah AMS Kibria.

Habiganj, April 7 (BDNEWS) – Ruling BNP candidate Abu Leichh Md Mubin Chowdhury has been declared as elected in the by-election to Habiganj-3 constituency (Habiganj-Lakhai), which fell vacant on January 27 after the assassination of Awami League lawmaker and former finance minister Shah AMS Kibria.
The four other candidates who had submitted nomination papers to contest the election withdrew their candidatures Thursday.
The Returning Officer concerned through a public notification declared the only candidate Mubin Chowdhury elected.
Main opposition Awami League boycotted the election.
