The director general of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has reached Delhi to attend the first round of the biannual Director General-level talks with India’s Border Security Force (BSF), reports The Hindu.
The meeting started on Monday, and is scheduled to continue until Jun 11.
It comes amid rising tensions between the two border forces over Bangladesh’s allegations that the BSF has been “pushing” undocumented individuals across the border through multiple land entry points.
Dhaka said the practice of “push-in” bypasses the formal deportation process. The issue remains a key agenda item for the BGB.

The BSF, however, denies carrying out any such “push-ins”, maintaining that the individuals in question are illegal migrants who should be returned to their own country, The Hindu reported.
The Indian delegation is being led by BSF Director General Praveen Kumar, while the Bangladesh side is headed by BGB Director General Maj Gen Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui.
This is the first such high-level meeting following the formation of a new government under the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) in Bangladesh and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) coming to power in West Bengal.
The last such conference was held in Dhaka in 2025, from Aug 25 to 28.
