Bangladesh has recorded six more child deaths linked to measles in a single day, with 45 new cases confirmed in the same period.
In its regular measles bulletin on Wednesday, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said that 93 people have died of confirmed cases of measles across the country since Mar 15. In addition, 615 people with suspected measles cases have also died in that time.
The Dhaka Division has logged the highest number of symptomatic fatalities at 264.
The death toll across other regions stands at 88 in Rajshahi, 77 in Sylhet, 51 in Chattogram, 39 in Barishal, 60 in Mymensingh, 28 in Khulna, and eight in Rangpur.
According to the DGHS, a total of 744 people sought hospital care with measles symptoms over the latest 24-hour count, with 672 requiring admission.
Dhaka registered the highest caseload, with 288 hospitalisations. Rajshahi saw 21 hospital admissions, Sylhet 48, Chattogram 166, Barishal 93, Mymensingh 28, Khulna 21, and Rangpur 13.
The DGHS said the cumulative number of suspected measles cases in the country stands at 98,266, while confirmed cases total 11,594.
So far 78,287 of 81,955 patients hospitalised have been discharged after treatment.
