After its theatrical run earlier this year, Bangladeshi film “Jaya Aar Sharmin” is gearing up for its streaming debut.
Local platform Chorki announced in a Facebook post that the film will be among four new titles arriving in September. While no exact date has been confirmed, the lineup includes “Insaaf”, which starts streaming on Thursday, along with “Khub Kacher e Keo” and “Ondho Balak”.
Directed by Piplu Khan, "Jaya Aar Sharmin" unfolds during the COVID-19 lockdown, centring on actress Jaya (Jaya Ahsan) and her assistant Sharmin (Mohsina Akhter), who find themselves confined together for an extended period.
What starts as a purely professional relationship gradually evolves into companionship through shared meals, conversations, and memories. Yet, an unspoken divide persists, reflecting the gap between Jaya’s life as a celebrity and Sharmin’s more ordinary world.

Shot in just 15 days with a small crew under pandemic restrictions, the film was co-written by Piplu and Nusrat Islam, and produced by Piplu alongside Jaya herself. It also features a special appearance by Tanjim Saiyara Totini.
'A SMALL MOVIE AT A STRANGE TIME'
Reflecting on the project, Jaya described it as “a movie about two women’s unknown world -- a documentation of our inner conflicts and unfulfilled feelings”.
“It’s a small movie shot at a strange time,” she added, “but I hope it will touch the emotions of the audience.”
