The concert was part of a series of commemorative events organised around the world to mark the 60th anniversary – the Diamond Jubilee – of the Aga Khan’s accession to the Ismaili Imamat, the Aga Khan Development Network in Dhaka said.

Salim and Sulaiman Merchant are among the leading composers in Bollywood, having scored for more than hundred Indian films and over 20 TV shows. They have composed numerous records of cinematic, folk, electronica and Sufi influences to their music.

The concert recently held at the Bashundhara Convention Centre was attended by nearly 2,000 guests including civil servants, diplomats, business and civic leaders, and members of the Ismaili and other surrounding communities.

Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor was present as chief guest.
