The University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) has hosted a daylong cultural celebration to mark the 105th anniversary of the Communist Party of China’s (CPC) founding and the 90th anniversary of the Victory of the Long March.
The event, themed "Great Journey, Shared Future", was organised on Wednesday at the ULAB campus in collaboration with the Chinese Embassy in Dhaka and the Confucius Institute at Dhaka University, according to a media statement from the university.
The celebration featured a photo and video exhibition, a book exhibition, and a display of traditional Chinese culture.
ULAB students, faculty, and staff participated in demonstrations of traditional Chinese arts, including calligraphy and paper-cutting.
The opening ceremony included cultural performances by the Shanghai Chinese Choir of the Confucius Institute alongside a Guzheng recital.
Speaking at the event, ULAB Vice-Chancellor Prof Shamsad Mortuza said the celebration reflected a shared commitment between Bangladesh and China to strengthen friendship, cultural exchange, and mutual understanding through education and people-to-people connections.
The event concluded with a lecture titled "The Story of the Communist Party of China", delivered by Li Shaopeng, culture counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Dhaka.
Li highlighted the historical contributions of the CPC, the significance of the Long March victory, China's development journey, and the enduring cooperation between China and Bangladesh.
According to the press note, the event was attended by Dr Yang Hui, Chinese director of the Confucius Institute, Huang Moucong, second secretary of the Chinese Embassy, and several Chinese delegates and performing artists.
ULAB was represented by Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof Jude William Genilo, Special Advisor to the Board of Trustees & Treasurer Prof Milan Kumar Bhattacharjee, and Registrar retired lieutenant colonel Md Foyzul Islam, alongside school deans, department heads, and students.
