The success rate for this year's JSC exams stood at 83.65 percent, against 93.06 percent in 2016.

The JDC exam had a 86.80 percent pass rate this year, compared to 94.02 percent last year.

The number of students who received a GPA 5.0 also fell to 191,628 from 247,558 last year.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina published the result on Saturday after Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid, accompanied by the chairpersons of the education boards, handed it over to her at the Ganabhaban.

Nearly 24.69 million eighth-graders in schools and madrasas took the exam this year administered by the education boards. Allegations have come forward that most of the question papers were leaked on Facebook.

Education Minister Nahid briefed the media on several aspects of the JSC-JDC results at the Secretariat at 2pm. Students will now be able to check their results.

Students will have to type ‘JSC/DAKHIL<space>the first three letters of the board’s name<space>roll number<space>2017’ and send the message to 16222 to receive the results in an SMS response.

The results will also be available on the education boards’ website, educationboardresults.gov.bd.
